7 Best Field Service Management Software (2026 Review)

We scored Jobber, Housecall Pro, Kickserv, FieldEdge, ServiceTitan, Pipedrive and HubSpot on ease of use, price, field features and support. No sponsors.

Running a trade business in 2026 takes more than skilled hands — it takes fast invoicing, scheduling that survives a cancelled job, and a customer record you can actually find. We scored seven platforms against four criteria weighted for small crews (see the methodology below). Jobber comes out on top for most plumbing, HVAC, electrical and general contracting outfits, on the strength of its mobile app, its client hub, and the fact that a one-person shop can be running on it the same week.

Nobody on this list paid to be here, and none of these scores move for a commission.

How We Scored These

Each platform is rated 1–10 on four criteria specific to field trade businesses: Ease of Use, Price/Value for a small crew, Field-Specific Features (dispatch, mobile app, on-site invoicing), and Support/Integrations (QuickBooks, payments). The overall score is a simple average of the four.

Two things follow from that, and both are worth stating plainly before you read the table.

  • General-purpose CRMs score low on Field Features by design. Pipedrive and HubSpot were never built to dispatch a truck. We mark that honestly rather than inflating it to make the comparison look even.
  • Price/Value is scored for a small crew, not an enterprise. This is why ServiceTitan — comfortably the most capable product here — does not top the list. Its feature score is the highest we gave anyone. Its price score is the lowest. If you run 40 technicians, weight those two differently and it wins.

We also treat published pricing as part of the score. Two vendors on this list will not tell you what they cost without a sales call, and for an owner comparing options on a Sunday evening that is a real cost, not a footnote.

#1 Top Pick: Jobber — Best Overall Field Service Software

Jobber is built specifically for home service and field trade businesses, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and general contracting crews. It streamlines the entire workflow from initial customer quote to final invoice collection.

What earns it the top spot is not any single feature — it is that a two-person shop can sign up on Monday and be quoting from a phone on Tuesday, without an implementation consultant. Almost nothing else in this category can say that.

Key Features for Trade Contractors

  • Instant Quote Approvals: Send interactive estimates via SMS or email that clients can approve in seconds.
  • Smart Scheduling & Dispatching: Assign jobs to technicians based on real-time location and availability.
  • Online Client Hub: Allow customers to request work, approve quotes, and pay invoices online 24/7.
  • QuickBooks Integration: Sync payments, line items, and customer information seamlessly.

Pros & Cons

ProsCons
Intuitive mobile app for field crewsLower-tier plans lack advanced route optimization
Automated payment reminders reduce late billsCustom reporting requires a higher-tier plan
Fast setup time with minimal training neededEvery plan starts at one user; seats add up quickly

Pricing Summary*

  • Core — $49/mo (1 user): basic scheduling, quoting and invoicing for a single operator.
  • Connect — $139/mo (1 user): adds automated client communications, route optimization and quote add-ons.
  • Grow — $199/mo (1 user, expandable): job costing and custom reporting for a growing shop.
  • Plus — $499/mo (5 users): tighter controls for teams running complex operations.

*Month-to-month rates for a single user, re-verified at getjobber.com/pricing on 24 August 2026. Paying a year up front drops these to $21, $70, $105 and $280/mo — but only for the first twelve months, after which they rise to $29, $99, $149 and $399/mo respectively. Jobber also prices by team size, so a two-to-five person shop pays more per tier than the figures above. Extra users are $29/mo each. There is an up-to-40% promotion running that ends on 31 August 2026, so confirm current rates before purchasing.

#2 Housecall Pro — Best for Plumbing & HVAC Specialists

Housecall Pro is the closest direct competitor to Jobber, and for a pure plumbing or HVAC shop it is arguably the better fit. Its dispatch board and consumer-facing online booking are stronger out of the box, and the customer-notification flow — “your tech is on the way”, with a photo and a live map — is the sort of thing that quietly generates five-star reviews.

It scores a point below Jobber on Ease of Use because the settings sprawl once you turn on price book, memberships and automated marketing at the same time, and a point below on Price/Value for the reason in the pricing note.

Pricing Summary*

  • Basic — $79/mo month-to-month, or $59/mo billed annually (1 user).
  • Essentials — $189/mo month-to-month, or $149/mo billed annually (5 users; extra users $100/mo each).
  • Max — $329/mo month-to-month, or $299/mo billed annually (8 users; extra users $75/mo each).

*Verified at housecallpro.com/pricing on 22 August 2026, in USD, exclusive of sales tax. Read the billing terms before you compare. The $59 figure quoted almost everywhere online is the annual rate. A contractor who signs up month to month pays $79 — 34% more than the number in the ad. Additional users on Essentials cost $100/mo each, which is more than a whole Basic seat.

#3 Kickserv — Best Value for a Tight Budget

Kickserv is the cheapest genuine field service platform on this list, and it is not close. Five users for $60/mo works out to $12 a seat — Jobber’s cheapest plan is $49 for one. If you run a small crew and the choice is realistically between spreadsheets and something, this is the something.

The trade-off is depth. You get scheduling, a calendar, dispatch mapping, GPS check-ins, estimates, invoices, time and expense tracking, and QuickBooks Online sync. You do not get a flat-rate price book, a service-agreement engine, or serious inventory. For a two-truck landscaping or handyman operation that is a fair trade. For an HVAC shop selling maintenance plans, it is a wall you will hit.

Pricing Summary*

  • Start — $60/mo (5 users): contact form, automated email and text reminders, 20+ reports, time and expense tracking, QuickBooks Online.
  • Run — $119/mo (10 users): adds dispatch mapping, GPS check-ins, custom fields and custom reports.
  • Scale — $199/mo (20 users): adds custom templates and reviews management.

*Verified at kickserv.com/pricing on 22 August 2026. An annual subscription saves 20%. QuickBooks Desktop sync is a $50/mo add-on, not included — worth checking before you switch, because that is most of a Start plan again. Kickserv also discounts 5% a month if you process a minimum volume of online payments through the platform ($1,000 on Start, $2,000 on Run, $3,000 on Scale).

#4 FieldEdge — Best for Shops Living in QuickBooks Desktop

FieldEdge exists for one buyer above all others: the established shop whose books have lived in QuickBooks Desktop for a decade and whose bookkeeper is not moving. Its real-time two-way Desktop sync is the strongest in this comparison, and it is the reason shops pick it over Jobber or Housecall Pro despite a plainer interface.

Underneath that it is a capable mid-market product: dispatch board, flat-rate price book, service agreements, a mobile app technicians can invoice from, and good phone support. The office-side UI shows its desktop-software heritage, which is where the Ease of Use point goes.

Pricing

FieldEdge publishes no prices. Its pricing page lists three tiers — Select, Premier and Elite — with a “Request Pricing” button on each and the explanation that plans are customised with add-ons “so pricing can vary”. We checked on 22 August 2026 and there is not a single dollar figure on the page.

We will not print a number we cannot verify at the source, so FieldEdge carries a Price/Value score of 5: the product is worth paying for, but you cannot find out what it costs without giving a salesperson your phone number, and that opacity is itself a cost to a small buyer.

#5 ServiceTitan — Most Capable, and Priced Accordingly

ServiceTitan earns the only 10 we awarded for Field Features, and it deserves it. Capacity planning, a real price book with good-better-best presentation, membership and service-agreement management, call booking with recorded-call review, inventory, payroll, dispatch scoring — no other product here is in the same conversation. Large HVAC and plumbing operations run their entire business on it and grow because of it.

It finishes fifth anyway, because this article scores for small crews and ServiceTitan is unambiguously not built for them. The learning curve is steep enough that implementation is a paid project rather than a weekend. And the price is the price.

Pricing

ServiceTitan publishes no prices either. Its pricing page names three tiers — Starter, Essentials and The Works — lists the features in each, and puts a “Request Pricing” button under all three. Verified 22 August 2026.

Third-party analyses consistently describe per-technician monthly pricing in the low hundreds, plus a substantial one-time implementation fee and an annual contract. We have not verified any of those figures with the vendor and are not going to reproduce them as fact. What we can tell you is the shape of the commitment: per-technician billing, a paid onboarding, a 12-month term, and several capabilities sold as separate add-on modules. Budget for a procurement process, not a signup form.

If you run 20 or more technicians, get the quote. The Price/Value score of 3 in the table above reflects a small crew’s reality, not a judgement that the product is overpriced for the market it actually serves.

#6 Pipedrive — A CRM, Not a Dispatch System

Pipedrive is a very good visual sales CRM that some contractors adopt because it is cheap and it finally puts every lead in one place. If your problem is that quotes go out and you never hear back, and you have no interest in scheduling software, it solves that problem for $14 a seat.

It scores 4 on Field Features because it has essentially none: no dispatch board, no technician mobile workflow, no on-site invoicing, no price book. Pairing it with separate scheduling and invoicing tools is a real setup that real shops run, but it is two subscriptions and a manual seam where a customer record should be.

Pricing: from $14/mo per seat billed annually (Lite), in USD. Higher tiers add automation, forecasting and reporting.

#7 HubSpot CRM — Best Free Starting Point for Lead Capture

HubSpot’s free tier is genuinely free and genuinely useful: contact records, deal pipeline, email tracking, forms and a website chat widget, with no seat cost. For a contractor who wants to stop losing enquiries from the website contact form, it is the cheapest possible first step — which is why it scores 9 on Price/Value despite scoring 3 on Field Features.

The same caveat as Pipedrive applies, more so: HubSpot knows nothing about jobs, trucks or technicians. Treat it as marketing and lead capture sitting in front of a field service platform, not as a replacement for one. Costs also climb steeply past the free tier once marketing automation is switched on.

Pricing: free tier available; paid Starter from $20/mo per seat, in USD.

How to Choose, in One Paragraph

  • One to five people, want it working this week: Jobber.
  • Plumbing or HVAC, online booking matters: Housecall Pro.
  • Budget is the binding constraint: Kickserv.
  • QuickBooks Desktop is not moving: FieldEdge.
  • Twenty-plus technicians, ready for a real rollout: ServiceTitan.
  • You only have a lead-tracking problem: HubSpot free, or Pipedrive if you will live in the pipeline daily.

Whatever you shortlist, run your own last week of jobs through the trial. Enter three real customers, build one real quote, and send one real invoice from a phone while standing in a driveway. Twenty minutes of that will tell you more than any comparison table, including this one.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best field service management software for a small crew?

Jobber, on our scoring, at 8.8 out of 10. It balances a mobile app crews will actually use with setup a one-person shop can complete without help, starting at $49/mo month-to-month. Housecall Pro at 8.0 is the strongest alternative, particularly for plumbing and HVAC.

How much does field service management software cost?

For a small crew, roughly $50 to $200 a month. Kickserv starts at $60/mo for five users, Jobber at $49/mo for one, Housecall Pro at $79/mo month-to-month. Enterprise platforms like ServiceTitan bill per technician and add a one-time implementation fee, which puts them in a different bracket entirely.

Why will ServiceTitan and FieldEdge not publish their prices?

Both sell through a sales team and quote per business, based on technician count, industry and which add-on modules you take. Neither publishes a figure on its pricing page — we checked both on 22 August 2026. Expect a discovery call and a demo before you see a number.

Can I just use a CRM like HubSpot or Pipedrive instead?

Only if your problem is leads rather than jobs. Neither can dispatch a technician, hold a flat-rate price book, or produce an invoice on site. They are worth pairing with a field service platform, not substituting for one.

Does this site earn commission on these recommendations?

No vendor paid for placement or for a score. Scores come from the four published criteria and nothing else, and every price is checked against the vendor’s own pricing page on the date shown.

Next Steps

Start with the two that fit your shape of business, take both trials in the same week, and put the same three jobs through each. If you want the reasoning behind a score before you commit, the methodology section above sets out exactly what each of the four criteria measures.

Head-to-head breakdowns of individual pairings are in progress and will be linked here as they publish. Everything we have so far is in the guides index.
